On Saturday morning just after 7am, the department was activated for a Mutual Aid, one engine requested to the scene of a Working Structure Fire in Eastport's Fire District. The location was 51 South Phillips Ave in Remsenburg. Eastport's first arriving Chief Mark Yakaboski encountered a one and a half story private dwelling with heavy smoke showing. At that time he requested Westhampton F.D for an Engine, East Moriches F.D for a Rapid Intervention Team and Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance to stand-by.

3rd Assistant Chief Kevin Raynor was first to arrive on scene for Westhampton Bach FD and checked in with Eastports command post to get an update and orders. Engine 7-8-2 arrived and staged at the hydrant establishing a positive water source. Engine 2's crew was given the assignment to make their way to the second floor to search for any possible victims and fire extension in the walls. The crew utilized a Thermal Imaging Camera and found no extension from the first floor. After the task was complete the crew then helped stretched a 1-3/4" hand line into the crawlspace to reach the seat of the fire on exposure 4 side. After the fire was extinguished members helped pack hose with Eastport.

The fire was quickly knocked down by Eastport Fire Department's first due engine likely saving the house from further damage. One firefighter from Eastport was transported to the hospital by Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance who was later released for minor injuries. The fire scene was turned over to the Southampton Town Police and Town Fire Marshal's office.
