On Tuesday, November 28 at 10:43am the department was activated for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident with wires down on top of a vehicle on Montauk Highway between Old Country Road and Sophia Court in Westhampton.

Chief of the department Billy Dalton was first to arrive and encountered a landscaping truck with a utility trailer attached, both of which were over a guard rail with a telephone pole snapped in half resting on the vehicle. One person had fled the scene on foot while another patient was on scene with minor injuries. The power company was contacted and requested to respond to secure the snapped pole. Rescue 5 and Engine 2 responded and secured the vehicle once the scene was safe. A precautionary, dry hand line was stretched as well, due to the odor of leaking fuel. Fire police controlled traffic during the incident with the Town Police- Traffic Control Officers taking over.

A heavy duty wrecker was requested by the police to remove the vehicle from the guard rail. Rapid Recovery responded and had to cut the guard rail and pull the rail supports out in order to remove the truck and trailer at the same time. The Southampton Town Police, with assistance from the NY State Troopers and Suffolk County Police, were on scene investigating. Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance also responded. The department was back in service at 11:44pm. The road remained closed as of 9pm while the power company installed a new pole and moved the primary wires over to the new pole.
